Episode 6 - Smash TV & Adams Family

There comes a time in every young man's life when he must venture forth into the arena and pit himself against other young men. These contests are fought for the highest honor any man can achieve - the ownership of a 1999 Roadster or a brand new VCR. Fortunately for us this almost supernatural experience has been captured in digital format, to be replayed over and over. "Smash TV" is everything that is great about life, and freedom, and America.

Not only this but we find it also to contain within it a foreshadowing to that little white box that has been sweeping the nation for a few years now. Yes, the Wii had its origins in '80s blood sports.

While we were content to revel in this glorious slice of 8-bit history, we found it fitting to subject ourselves to another game - purely for your benefit, dear listeners. So we turned our attention to another phenomenon that began in the early days of the Clinton administration - Movie spin-off games.

It may not be a perfectly accurate statement, but before the advent of the NES the movie tie-in game did not have the devoted investment that came after. With the NES came an explosion of games based off Hollywood blockbusters, and thus "The Adams Family" was brought to shelves. This gives us definitive proof that the poor quality of movie-tie in games is not a result of short development cycles or poor production values, but rather is an immutable fact of natural law.

Please, dear listener, do hear our findings.
